GLAAD hires actor Wilson Cruz on fundraising staff
Actor Wilson Cruz has joined the development staff of gay media watchdog GLAAD.
The gay rights advocate will serve as the group’s Strategic Giving Officer tasked with helping fund it’s community-based work. He tells OutQ News the job will be full-time, but flexible enough to allow him to take any acting work he decides to do.
Cruz is best known for his groundbreaking role as Rickie Vasquez on the short-lived TV Series ‘My So-Called Life,’ which GLAAD honored back in 1995. He has since appeared in shows like the LGBT-themed ‘Noah’s Arc’ and Grey’s Anatomy.
As an activist, Cruz has served on the board of directors for both GLAAD and the Gay, Lesbian & Straight Education Network, or GLSEN.
Cruz says that he’s “proud and excited to grow [GLAAD's] culture-changing work.”
