OutQ News internship deadline for spring approaching
Every semester, OutQ News takes one intern and turns that person into a broadcaster.
Our interns gradually learn to do everything a professional radio reporter/producer does: write (a lot of) broadcast-style scripts that are used on the air, extract sound bites (called ‘actualities’ in radio news lingo) from telephone news conferences and from interviews the intern conducts, and read scripts on the air with professional broadcast delivery. If you’re paying attention and learn everything you have the opportunity to learn, you can walk into any small-to-mid-market newsroom in the country and pass the entry-level test.
Among the OutQ News interns who’ve gone on to fame and fortune (okay, at least fame) are GLAAD’s Associate Director of National News (and former OutQ anchor) Aaron McQuade and host/pundit/actor Michael Billy.
If you’ll be in the New York area this spring and eligible for college course credit (our internship is unpaid; therefore course credit is a must), please consider applying through the SIRIUS XM Internship site. If you have any questions about the internship, you can contact us directly.
Internship dates: Monday, Jan. 31-Friday, May 13
