New Social Networking Site for Gay U.S. Soldiers and Allies
There’s a new social networking site for gay servicemembers and their supporters–and it’s appropriately called OutMilitary.com.
Site publisher John McKinnon tells OutQ News that OutMilitary.com went live the day after President Obama signed ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ repeal into law. It has since reached more than 1100 users, with about 200 joining daily.
McKinnon says he had been thinking about creating the website for the past few months, and was motivated by the fact that he has friends and family in both the gay and military communities.
Which is why McKinnon says the site is actually for gay military personnel and their allies. Active-duty LGBT servicemembers are even encouraged to create an ANONYMOUS profile until the ban is officially lifted so as to take part in the communal effort.
McKINNON: “We just really wanted OutMilitary.com to be a site where people can feel that they are being supported–that gay servicemen and women can feel like they were in a safe environment where they can feel free to share their experience. You know, obviously post in forums and make friends, and the response has been liberating.”
McKinnon says OutMilitary.com has already started ‘friending’ servicemembers from around the world. But he says his main goal is to have every military base represented on his site.

Can anyone register to this site or just soldiers? It would be nice at least to see the profiles of these soldiers because I’m sure they are real treasures. I can bet that in a few months or this will become one of the top rated gay sites because the quality recommends it.
